JAMMU, Dec 20: Gujjar Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ nabbed driver and his associate along with 25 kilograms of bhukki.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gujjar Nagar police station laid a naka and signaled a Santro car bearing registration number JK12-5564 to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 25 kilograms of bhukki from the vehicle and arrested the driver along with his associate.
The accused have been identified as Showket Ahmad Baba, son of Ghulam Hassan Baba of Qadipora Budgam and Farooq Ahmad Ganai, son of Abdul Aziz Ganai of Kulbugh Budgam, Kashmir.
A case under FIR Number 105/16 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Pir Mitha and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by Incharge Gujjar Nagar police post SI Shariq Bhat made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Pir Mitha Inspector Javaid Malik, SDPO City Vivek Shekhar and SP North Dr Vinod Kumar.
