RAMBAN, May 7: A driver and his associate were killed when the truck they were travelling in skidded off the road and turned turtle near Dalwas area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
As per police sources, a truck bearing registration number JK05G-6355 carrying iron rods was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it turned turtle near Dalwas area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, resulting into on the spot death of the driver and his associate.

On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to mortuary of District Hospital (DH) Ramban for completing medical and legal formalities.
The deceased were identified as driver Abid Hussain (28), son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Gorsipora District Baramullah and Omar Bashir (25), son of Bashir Ahmed, a resident of Noorbagh District Shopian.
After completing medical and legal formalities, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Chanderkote Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, the vehicular movement on the NH also remained suspended for sometime due to the accident.
Later, men and machinery were put in and the vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
