RAMBAN, Jan 18: Police arrested a driver along with large quantity of charas from main market, Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from police station Banihal laid a naka at main bazaar on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a Jammu bound Tata Indigo car bearing registration number JK14B-8254.
During checking, police recovered 700 grams of charas from the possession of the driver and arrested him on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Pawan Kumar, son of Gulshan Ram, a resident of Karua, District Reasi.
A case under FIR Number 7/16 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO RS Pura Inspector Nazir Ahmed made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Mohammad Rafiq and SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
