Driver arrested with 80 kgs poppy straw

JAMMU, Mar 17: Police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested a driver along with 80 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki).
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Nagrota police station and the sleuths of Special Operation Group (SOG) Jammu raised a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and signaled a truck to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the truck accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops thwarted his design and intercepted the truck.
During checking, police recovered 80 kilograms poppy straw (bhukki) from the vehicle and arrested the driver.
The accused driver has been identified as Altaf Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain of Dhara Fatehpur, Tehsil Mandi, District Poonch
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Daljit Singh and assisted by the sleuths of SOG Jammu made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Dr Amit Gupta, SP Rural Arun Gupta and SP SOG Jammu Vinay Sharma.
