REASI, Apr 4: Continuing the drive against unauthorized buntings, banners and hoardings in Reasi, the district administration has removed numerous campaign materials while Assistant Returning Officers have proceeded under law for booking expenditure in accounts of candidates as well initiating proceedings under J&K Prevention of Defacement of Property Act.
The Municipal Committee has also been entrusted the responsibility of removing the hoardings from the town while the flying squads continued to carry the drive in all the constituencies of district.
Soon after the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct, the district administration has already put in place elaborate mechanism to check any sort of violation by political parties. With the enforcement of the MCC ahead of the Lok-Sabha elections, the district administration has been removing political graffiti and posters from walls and hoardings from the roadside. The hoardings and banners at Reasi, which were erected without permission were removed on the orders of ARO Tilak Raj Shastri.
The operation would be strictly implemented in different parts of the district besides the Municipal Committee has also been entrusted the responsibility of removing the hoardings of political parties in the urban areas in the presence of police, Shastri added, saying that over 33 banners and flexes were removed today which were erected illegally.
