LOS ANGELES, Apr 3: “50 First Dates” actress Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman have made an official announcement confirming they are divorcing after almost four years of marriage.
The estranged couple, who share two young daughters, said the kids are their universe and first priority, reported People magazine.
“Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family. Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on,” the statement read.
Barrymore, 41, and art consultant Kopelman are parents to three-year-old Olive and one-year-old Frankie.
“Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority,” the statement continued.
The duo reportedly used to have arguments over where to live. “While she was leaning towards Los Angeles, he was more comfortable remaining in Upper East Side, New York City,” a source said.
Another insider suggested that the problem ran deeper than that. “Drew had a very rebellious and wild childhood, with no family around her, and while she is a very different person now, and a great mother, some of that can stay with you,” it said.
Barrymore was spotted out and about a day after the divorce report spread all over media. The actress went to Pebble Beach Food and Wine festival on Saturday, April 2 to promote her Barrymore Wines. The actress was all smiles at the event.
This is Barrymore’s third failed marriage albeit the longest. She was married to bartender Jeremy Thomas for less than two months in 1994. Her marriage to comedian Tom Green in 2001 lasted only five months. (PTI)
