The charade of selective hugs, sipping Kehva, feigning smiles and “moderate” laughter(s) for whatever little time of the Kashmir picnic undertaken by “five member civil society delegation” had miserably failed not only even in its suspect mission but even pathetically so in convincing a soul about its utility. This delegation was led by Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyer.
Last year, so called “stake holder Hurriyat” leaders refused to meet all – party Parliamentary delegation which visited Srinagar to attempt to “end the crisis” and the more “liberal and democratic” group comprising Sita Ram Yetuchri, Sharad Yadav and D.Raja who took the lead in visiting Geelani were denied permission , gates were kept tight shut despite their wait. Even elementary courtesy was not shown to them by Syed Geelani. Not only this, a large number of people got assembled there and shouted anti India slogans. With great difficulty a contingent of Police force could succeed in taking them away safe from amidst the slogans shouting mob. Earlier, most of the MPs in opposition had strongly criticized the Government in not “meeting ” the people and “talk” to them. They tried to ” MEET ” and “TALK” too but failed. It was mid Sept last year with a bitter experience , the separatists and anti India elements had shown their intent and true colours by instigating violence and keeping on fueling it fully backed by Pakistan.
Against this backdrop, the purpose of Mani Shankar led group meeting secessionist and anti India leaders and the purpose behind it, is hard to comprehend and how come this time, the five member group had full permission and a gentle hug by the Pakistani hawk and the tea and the dictates and jotting down “notes”, raises questions and some could connect the dots together coming out of “In ko hatao” statement given by Mani Shankar in Pakistan. Had this group the blessings of Pakistan to the extent as to how the Indian Government and the valiant Indian army could best be berated and criticized, in whatever way , needs to be analyzed. This, especially at a time when the national mood is changing , general stereotype perceptions hitherto kept sustained by the pseudo nationals and selective secularists undergoing a review from the prism of “India first”, any such sham missions are bound to be seen carrying fake concern for Kashmiris but definitely aiming at creating confusions and aggravating problems especially for the present Government at the centre which right from swearing in ceremony of the Prime Minister to various occasions out of box , it tried to develop friendship with Pakistan even at the expense of domestic criticism of going too soft with the rogue country. In the same fashion and with sincerity it tried to see Jammu and Kashmir State getting the best in every sphere. But Pakistan and her agents in Kashmir have one agenda and that is seceding of Kashmir from India.
The timing of this “mission” too was as ridiculous as its purpose. The entire country was appreciating the decision taking ability of the young army Major Gogoi for rescuing trapped state employees performing election duties as also the rescuing team without firing a shot and saving precious lives. His intrinsic wish as not to cause any damage to any precious life and come out with a remedy at the supur of the moment should otherwise receive all-round acclaim and not condemnation but a class of our political leaders, some academicians of extreme Left leanings and fake liberal democrats decry and demean the army and support Pakistan proxies . When the visiting peace nicks headed by Congress leader repeatedly inquired about the health of Pakistani hawk, Syed Geelani , they had a pleasant laugh especially Aiyer, when he said, ” Your Hindustan has handed us over to army…” Not only this, Geelani told Aiyer, ” Aap to poori fauj lay kar aaye hain”. The anti Indian Geelani knows how to easily find out the Achilles heel, and from amongst whom, as also where, and how to narrate it vividly. As expected, he encountered no resistance, not even token one , against the mischievous charge of Kashmiris having been “handed over” to army hence to attack first, being the best defence, and a fit strategy was adopted by Geelani. The group kept mum on the issue of army and did not react by saying as to who called the army and why as also when. In other words, who created circumstances and conditions in the valley in 1990 to the extent of calling army ? Did they come on their own? Should Pakistani infiltrators, armed Islami Jihadis, bombs, blasts, killings and the like, be all allowed unopposed and not stopped? Did Aiyer led group discuss these points with them and if not , is their sincerity about the country and the army not questionable ? Did Mani Shanker Aiyer led group think it not feasible to visit the parents of the Indian army brave heart Lt. Ummar Fayaz who was dragged out from a family wedding function, abducted and killed . Not only this, the killer cowards had threatened family members not to inform the Police or the army which speaks about their level of scare and fright. Arun Jaitley had described the martyred young Kashmiri army officer as “a role model” which Aiyer and his other members did not think worth to pay tributes to.
In the starting lines, a mention of “selective” hugs by Geelani needs to be deciphered in that while he was reluctantly exchanging a mild hug with the visiting members, he turned unexpectedly frugal in not hugging one of the members Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Kapil Kak although the latter tried many a time during exchanging pleasantries which too speaks more than it hides as Kapil Kak, did not represent the exiled KP community but was basically a Kashmiri Pandit . Syed Geelani and his ilk had played a leading part in ensuring the exodus of the ethnic minority community and even after 28 years , he plays active part in ensuring that they did not return and settle in their Homeland.
We have no problem in anybody talking to anyone in Kashmir who talks India and believes in India but not to those who aid, abet and sustain anti India movements , armed insurgency, violence and destruction in the valley of Kashmir . Not to those who get money to lubricate the wheels of destruction and fuel the fire of hatred , mayhem in Kashmir and religious imaginary ideas of establishing of caliphate and the like. Not to those who are progressively turning Kashmir into another Afghanistan by sowing poppy and other narcotics to reap terror. Satellite pictures, as per reports , have revealed vast areas under poppy cultivation in parts of Kashmir which was bound to destroy the future of Kashmir . Not to those who peddle such drug money to carry on with the proxy war.
What did the visit of the civil society delegation led by Aiyer achieve, only the next day, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was seen addressing crowds and procession on streets amid pro Pakistan slogans all against India and the army. If he would have advised the crowds not to pelt stones , we had no problem if Aiyer could have taken credit for that but Aiyer himself spoke to reporters about the “Qabza” of Hindustan, “Agar Hindustan ko Kashmir par qabza rakhna hai to Kashmiryon kay sath baat karni hogi”. A “young” MP of his very party while taking part in a debate on Kashmir last year in the Parliament said, ” Vahan to Rai Shumari honi chahiye” or a plebiscite should be held in Kashmir. It is high time Congress high command clarified its position on the issue and did not play the game of running with hares and hunting with the hounds.
