Dr Wadhwa in Limca Book of Records

JAMMU, July 12:  Dr Manuj Wadhwa, Director & Head, Department of Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement, Max Hospitals Mohali (Chd),  Bathinda & Dehradun,  has made world record for performing highest number of 331 joint replacement surgeries in the month of March this year.
This is the highest number of joint replacement surgeries performed  globally by a single surgeon in a month. Dr Wadhwa pioneered the concept of CT based and navigation in joint replacements  and is first to start customized knee replacement, rotating platform  and high flexion total knee replacement  in North India. He has performed 12,000 joint replacement surgeries in his career, spanning over 12 years  and pioneered in the field arthroplasty and made use of  the latest technology in replacements of hip, knee, shoulder and elbow joints.
Dr Wadhwa recalled how he was working abroad when his parents asked him to serve the ailing people in India and how he made up his mind to work in his own country. An MCH from University of  Dundee (UK), Dr Wadhwa has surgically operated upon complex joint replacement cases of 17 year olds as well octogenarians. He has an active interest in research  and global launches in the field of next generation knee- joint instrumentation.
He has been felicitated by former President of India, Pratibha Devi Singh Patil for handling complex knee and hip replacement surgery of  Euthanasia petitioner Seema Sood in July 2008. He has also been awarded the     “Rashtriya Rattan Award” and  “Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award.”
