JAMMU, Oct 17: Dr Vijay Sehgal of the Law Department has been elected as new President of Jammu University Teachers Association (JUTA).
In a straight contest, he defeated Dr Manoj Bhat of Economics Department with a margin of 25 votes in the election held today for the post of President JUTA.
As all other office bearers of JUTA were already elected unopposed, election for the post of President was held today in which total 204 votes were polled. Vijay Sehgal secured 111 votes while Manoj Bhat was polled only 86 votes.
Earlier, Dr Subhash Chander from the Department of English in Bhaderwah Campus, Dr Vijay Shivgotra from the Department of Statistics in JU, Rajesh Sharma from Buddhist Studies Department and Dr Parmodh Kumar Singh from the Department of Library Sciences, had already been declared elected for the post of Vice-President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer, respectively.
