JAMMU, Jan 29: Dr Varun Suthra became the first person from Jammu to attend prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meet– a conglomerate of international leaders of highest repute in various disciplines, at Davos in Switzerland.
Dr Suthra was invited by the Swiss Indian Chamber of Commerce, Switzerland to represent Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), which is world’s largest education institution for the tribal children.
He is presently working as Director International Affairs for the KISS and Kalinga Institute of International Technology (KIIT). Sharing his experience he said that WEF has become the most prominent podium for understanding the global impact of various national economies and cultures. It also provides an opportunity to realize the gravity of upcoming challenges in attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), he added.
The WEF is best known for its annual meeting at the end of January in Davos, a mountain resort in Graubünden, in the eastern Alps region of Switzerland. The meeting brings together some 2,500 top business leaders, international political leaders, economists, celebrities and journalists for up to four days to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world.
Founder of KIIT and KISS and Member of Parliament, Dr Achyuta Samanta lauded Dr Suthra for a successful representation among the world leaders and giving them an insight that how KIIT-KISS have been running since inception towards attaining SDGs.
Pertinent to mention here that KISS is already in process of opening up a quality education institution for the underprivileged in Jammu.
