JAMMU, Feb 9: “Adoption of indigenous soil and water conservation systems is a tool to increase production and productivity and thus doubling farmer’s income”, said Dr UC Sharma, Ex-National Coordinator (NATP) ICAR.
He stated this in the national conference on the theme “Innovative technological interventions for doubling the farmer’s income” which is going on at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu).
Dr Sharma further stressed that there is a need to pay attention on climate change, right agronomic practices and timely management of insects-pests for doubling the income of farmer.
Dr MY Zargar, Director Research SKUAST-K, Dr VK Razdan Professor Plant Pathology, Dr Vivak M Arya Assistant Prof Soil and many more presented their work in their respective fields of specialization.
Six technical sessions of agriculture, two technical sessions of veterinary and two poster sessions were conducted in the second day of national conference in which 45 oral presentations were made, besides more than 60 posters were displayed by eminent scientists and scholars from all over the country.
Dr JP Sharma Organizing Secretary and Director Research SKUAST-J expressed hope that recommendations coming out of the show will provide a way for improving the overall agricultural scenario of J&K and effective technologies will be developed for the conservation of natural resources to double the income of farmer by 2022.
