JAMMU, Jan 6: Begum Fatima Azad wife of late Ghulam Rasool Azad and mother of Dr Tariq Azad, noted Surgeon and Principal Government Medical College (GMC), Doda, passed away today at her residence at 8.45 am in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district after a prolonged illness. She was 80.
Her last rites of burial were performed at 4.30 pm today.
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister of J&K, Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is closely related to the family, has expressed condolences to Dr Tariq Azad over the death of her mother.
Chahrrum (4th day) ceremony of Begum Fatima will be held on January 9 at 12 noon at Karanti Ashram at village Chakka near Government Degree College, Bhaderwah.
