Dr Tandon delivers lecture at Puducherry

JAMMU, Nov 23: Dr Vishal R Tandon, Assistant Professor, Government Medical College, Jammu delivered invited Faculty lecture on Pharmacovigilance and medication safety and chaired various sessions in an “International Conference of Society of Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPT) at JIPMER” at Puducherry.
More than 600 delegates and 40 faculty members attended the conference from worldwide.
Dr Tandon said that Pharmacovigilance and medication safety play a major role in ensuring safe practices of medicine. He highlighted the current status of Pharmacovigilance in India and stressed that synersystic translational approach is need of hour and expressed need to further strengthen drug regulatory system in our country.
Dr. Kathleen Holloway, Regional Adviser in Essential Medicines, WHO South East Asia Regional Office shared her views on rational use of medicines.
Dr. Krisantha Weerasuriya, Medical Officer, Medicines Access and Rational Use (MAR), Essential Medicines and Pharmaceutical Policies (EMP) in World Health Organization, Geneva delivered a lecture on the unmet need of access to essential medicines to all in society.
Other Eminent personalities like Dr. Kale Hoppu were part of scientific deliberations on Global Research in Pediatrics.
Prof. Shalini Srirangnathan, University of Colombo, and other Important eminent scientist present were Dr Stephaine Laer  Heinrich-Heine Universitaet Duesse Ldorf, Germany,  and Prof. Kalle Hoppu,  University of Helsinki, Finland, beside faculty from AIIMS, Lady Harding, JIPMER and PGIMER. Three original research papers were also read from the Department of Pharmacology, GMC Jammu.
