Dr Tandon delivers lecture on drug safety at PGI Chandigarh

JAMMU, Nov 17: Dr Vishal Tandon, Associate Professor, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu today delivered a lecture on drug safety at PGI Chandigarh.
Dr Tandon was there to attend a meeting cum advanced training program for patient and drug safety held under National Programme ‘Pharmacovigilance Programme of India’, as an expert faculty/guest speaker.
Department of Pharmacology, GMC Jammu is among first adverse drug reaction monitoring centres of the country being run under the auspices Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, since July 2010. The institution has contributed immensely with the initiative and efforts of Dr Vishal Tandon in drug and patient safety.
In this scientific meeting, Dr Vishal Tandon along with various other experts deliberated on very important issues like safe disposal of expire drugs and safety of herbal drugs as well as natural health dietary products available in Indian market. They also laid down roadmap of including drug safety in the medical curriculum of medical graduates and postgraduate studying in medical colleges of country.
The meeting was attended by various experts from drug regulatory authorities of the country, IPC, pharma industry and galaxy of medical teaching faculty as well as experts from WHO coordinating centre ‘Upsala’.
