JAMMU, Mar 2: Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhasin, Professor of Surgery from GMC Jammu, has been unanimously elected as new President (Chairman) of the J&K Chapter of Association of Surgeons of India (JAKASI) for 2022-2023.
In the elections held for the prestigious academic body of the surgeons, Dr Iqbal Saleem Mir, Professor of Surgery from GMC Srinagar and 17 members from across J&K and Ladakh were elected for the Executive Committee of the State chapter.
The election results were declared today by Prof Nisar Chowdari (Former HoD Surgery, SKIMS and Election Officer).
It is worth mentioning here that Association of Surgeons of India is the largest Surgeons body of India and second largest in the world and Jammu & Kashmir Chapter is one of the prestigious chapters of this academic body. The chapter was formed in 2009 and Dr Sanjay Kumar Bhasin is the sixth Chairman of the Chapter since its inception. Prior to that he has remained Joint Secretary for two terms and for last five years he remained as longest serving Honorary Secretary of the JAKASI alongside Prof Fazl Parry as the Chairman form 2017 till date.
