JAMMU, May 7: In connection with the celebrations of International Yoga Day falling on June 21 and to sensitize the public regarding the science of Yogic way of life, Dr T. R. Raina former Professor of Department of Transfusion Medicine Government Medical College Jammu and former Programme Director Advanced Yoga Centre Govt. Medical College Jammu has started a series of motivational lectures on ” Holistic Health, Science of Stress and its management through Yoga” in different educational institutions of the Jammu region.
In this regard, first motivational presentation was given to the students and faculty members of NITS Polytechniqe, Indira Nagar Miran Sahib Jammu where in addition to the technical courses, the courses for Yoga Instructor Level IV and Yoga Trainers Level V were also conducted under Pradhan Mantri Koushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) Government of India Flagship Programme.
During presentation, Dr Raina sensitised the audience regarding the scientific basis of yoga and how a yogic way of life can lead to health, happiness and harmony in the society. The lecture was followed by questions /answer session which also included few simple Yogic Techniques which can immediately bring peace of mind with complete relaxation of the body.
Second lecture was delivered at M.C. Khalsa High School, Gumat which was attended by the students and teachers of the school. Raina discussed the benefits of getting up early in the morning, regular morning walk with awareness, how to maintain proper posture and inculcate the habits of Yogic way of life especially in relation to diet and breathing.
