JAMMU, Feb 15: Dr T. R. Raina former Professor Head, Blood Transfusion Department Government Medical College Jammu & former Programme Director, Advanced Yoga Centre Government Medical College Jammu conducted three days workshop at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jammu on the topic “Holistic Health , Science of stress and its management through Yogic way of life”
During the presentation on the first day which was attended by all the faculty members of the institute including Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta, Director of the Institute & Lt Col Prabhat Sharma, Dy Director of the Institute, Dr Raina said it has been proved scientifically that 95 percent of human disorders are because of chronic stress & strain which is the result of fast life & erratic life style modifications.
He further explained the concept of holistic health and sensitized the audience regarding the scientific basis of yoga and Yogic way of life which can lead to health, happiness, prosperity & harmony in the society. Dr Raina also gave practical demonstrations of a few simple yogic techniques which can bring immediate peace of mind & relaxation of the body which were appreciated by all.
During the second day of workshop which was attended by all the officials & clerical staff of the institute, Dr Raina , in addition to explaining yogic way of life style emphasized for proper sitting posture as most of the time they have to use computers in the sitting postures during the office hours. A few relevant yogic exercises were also demonstrated to the audience which can be used while working on computers to avoid certain sedentary postural disorders.
The third day presentation was meant for the house keeping staff & security personals of the institute during which Dr Raina said that life style modifications are not too difficult to follow as is the common belief but are very simple daily routines like importance of morning walk, good sleep, yogic ways of breathing & eating, simple energization exercises & inculcating the habits of helping others etc.
