
GMPS organises function

JAMMU, Apr 27: Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Dr Arvind Karwani today called for preserving of rich cultural heritage and legacy, besides adherence to Sanskaras left over by the ancestors.
Addressing a function here organised by Ganesh Mandir Prabandhak Samiti (GMPS) in connection with celebration of Ganesh Chaturdashi, Dr Karwani who was the chief guest on the occasion assured that the genuine demands of the community will be redressed on priority basis.
He said that the encroachment of temple land at Shalimar Srinagar in Kashmiri Valley will be taken up with concerned authorities for early redressal.
Director Radio Sharda, Ramesh Hangloo and Sanjay Raina a scholar of Shaivism were the guests of honour. The function started with Saraswati Vandana.
The president of the Samiti U K Handoo, threw light on the significance of Lord Ganesha and also gave brief account activities undertaken by the Samiti for the development of Ganpatyar temple at Srinagar.
Sanjay Raina dwelt upon the history of Ganpatyar temple explaining the importance and significance of the holy shrine in view of Swayambhu Ganesh.
A large number of members of Kashmiri Pandit community including representatives of various social and religious organisations, Mandir committees and prominent citizens attended the function.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Behari Raina, general secretary of GMPS. The function concluded with serving of Prashad among the participants.
