JAMMU, Oct 23: Senior Congress leader, former Member Parliament and Chairman Trustee of J&K Dharmarth Trust, Dr Karan Singh today unveiled a specially designed LED glow of Mata Kheer Bhawani’s ‘pratima’, having MP3 audio pre-recorded ancient ‘katha’ of the Almighty Goddess along with ‘bhakti bhajans’ and ‘leelas’.
The specially designed ‘pratima’ of Mata Kheer Bhawani was unveiled by the former MP when ex-JMC commissioner and convener of Shri Mata Kheer Bhawani Yatra Welfare Society (SMKBYWS) Kiran Wattal, met him here today.
Detailing Dr Singh about the new initiative, Wattal said, “There is always a need to attract young people to our heritage and culture, and this is an attempt in that direction. As the power of story and music is immense, having it around the holy seat of the goddess will further add to the devotional atmosphere and meditation. Because of their displacement, Kashmiri Pandits, who are scattered throughout the world and are losing touch with their roots, an audio collection of this kind will help in connecting them to their roots.”
Wattal was accompanied by the Society advisor Ashok Aima, general secretary Pintooji, media/IT incharge Kamal Ganjoo, joint secretary Ashwani Bhat, coordinator Bittooji and executive member Ram Rattan.
The ex-JMC commissioner had a detailed discussion with Dr Karan Singh on the proper upkeep of Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple Shrine in the Valley. He apprised the former MP of the activities of SMKBYWS, formed by Global Solace and simultaneously supported by Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj – a community platform, being undertaken by them since 2013 for the maintenance of the highly revered shrine and restoring its sanctity by creating awareness about among the young community members.
Dr Singh appreciated the good work done by the Society and hoped that it would continue to be associated with all the development and religious activities at the temple.
