Dr Jitendra’s intervention sought for ‘Dogra Bhawan’ in Mumbai

NEW DELHI, Oct 15: Mumbai based film actor and social activist, Preeti Sapru called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh here today and sought his intervention and support for the proposed “Dogra Bhawan” in Mumbai.
Preeti Sapru informed Dr Jitendra Singh that an exclusive complex catering to Kashmiri Pandit community, already exists in Navi Mumbai and serves as “Kashmiri Pandit Bhawan”. On the same lines, she said, she and some of her colleagues, hailing from Jammu & Kashmir but settled in Mumbai, have envisaged the idea of setting up a “Dogra Bhawan”.
The proposed Dogra Bhawan, according to Preeti Sapru, will have living rooms and dormitories, boarding and lodging facility especially for the patients who come to Mumbai for treatment and are hard-pressed to find an affordable accommodation. In addition, she said, there will also be boarding and lodging facility for the students hailing from the Jammu region and undergoing studies in Mumbai. The proposed Bhawan will also include in its plan, a Community Hall and Meeting Room, she said.
Preeti Sapru further elaborated that with the assistance of the “Dogra Trust” and support from like-minded Dogra Mumbaites, particularly Nidhi Sharma, actor Mukesh Rishi and others, a plan has been prepared and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has been approached to facilitate allotment of a suitable piece of land. She requested Dr Jitendra Singh also to put in a word to Fadnavis.
Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated the idea and initiative of the group of Mumbaites hailing from the Jammu region, who have undertaken the responsibility of bringing up this multipurpose complex for people hailing from the region. He said, with each passing year, the number of settlers in Mumbai hailing from this part of the country is on the increase and as of today, there may be over 60,000 population of Jammuites settled or living in Mumbai.
Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated the urge of the Jammuites settled outside the State, to be able to contribute to their native land. He assured of whatever possible support required for the purpose.
