RAMBAN, May 2: Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (Independent charge), Prime Minister Office, Personnel-Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today asked the district administration Ramban to formulate projects on the concept of ‘Make in India’ to tap the tourism potential of Chenab.
“Formulate projects on the concept of ‘Make in India’ to tap the tourism potential of Chenab and to give Ramban district a new identity as an attractive tourist destination”, Union Minister asked the officers of District administration at meeting chaired by him to review the development scenario in the Ramban district.
MLA Ramban Neelam Kumar, DDC Ramban Farooq Shah Bukhari and all other district officers besides people from civil society were present on the occasion.
The Minister asked the officers to minimize the communication gap between the administration and civil society so that the energies from both sides can be utilized in making the district clean and sanitized under Swatch Bharat Abhyian. He directed the officers that they should expand the spectrum and frequency of meetings with the common masses for redressing their grievances.
The Minister also enquired about developmental needs and issues of public importance.
Responding to the demands for construction of new bridge over River Chenab in place of age old cantilever bridge, the Minister directed the DC to prepare DPR on the design of Ravi bridge of Pathankote so that the same can be taken up with the higher authorities.
Regarding the establishment of Kendriya Vidhhalaya, the Union Minister asked the MLA to get the DPR prepared from the DDC and CEO and also send the letter of acceptance of land to the HRD Ministry for sanctioning of same under the scheme of One KV for each district.
Responding to the grievance of the civil society about the deteriorating condition of NHA1, the minister said that he will convene a meeting of the concerned departments with the Ministry of Surface Transport so that the issue can be resolved as early as possible.
Earlier, the DC gave an overview of geographic and demographic features of the district. He apprised the Minister about the damages caused during the recent incessant rains in the district, relief provided to the needy persons in the form of blankets, ration and tents, accommodation to families displaced from landslide hit Sanasar area at safer places, loss of life and other public and private infrastructure in the district. The Minister was informed that the district has achieved the target of one account per family under PMJDY for which the Union Minister appreciated the administration and urged for further expansion of the scheme.
The people from the civil society also put forward their demands to which the minister listened carefully and directed the concerned officers for their early redressal.
The Minister on this occasion announced Yatri Shed at Sarwadar and a school bus for Ramban under his MPLAD funds. He further told the administration and the civil society to identify schools for establishing computer labs under MPLAD.
