NEW DELHI, Jan 21: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh will be a member of the high level ministerial delegation led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the prestigious “World Economic Forum” meeting to be held at Davos, Switzerland from 23rd to 26th January.
While the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Union Ministry of Commerce headed by Suresh Prabhu, will coordinate the Indian participation, the other Ministers included in the delegation are Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and MoS External Affairs M J Akbar. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley may not be able to attend the meeting due to his pre-occupation with budget preparation. Among the Chief Ministers attending the high profile meet are Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra and Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh.
The four – day event will be attended by Heads of State and senior Ministers from most of the countries across the world including USA, United Kingdom, China, Russia, France, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Indonesia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Denmark, Canada, Columbia, Egypt, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Argentina, Algeria, Malaysia, Jordan, Ukraine, Serbia, Thailand etc.
From the Indian side, the meeting will be attended by virtually all the “Who’s Who” of Corporate world including top CEOs, MDs and Presidents of all the leading business and industry houses of India. Various industry and trade organizations from India like Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) will also be represented.
Shah Rukh Khan, noted film star, is also expected to attend the event along with some other leading personalities from Bollywood.
While the Ministers accompanying the Prime Minister will be networking and engaging with global leaders on diverse subjects, Dr Jitendra Singh has been assigned to focus primarily on three sessions of the conference, devoted to current issues of “Fragile Cities”, “Future of Security in Travel” and “Sustainable production through Fourth Industrial Revolution” respectively. In addition, he will also participate in informal sessions and Boardroom discussions with leaders from different parts of the world.
Meanwhile, Syed Fakhar Kazmi Chisty of “Ajmer Sharif” Dargah called on Dr Jitendra Singh and held over 45 minute long discussion on a wide range of social and national issues. Chisty also offered his inputs and views about the situation in Kashmir and shared his possible plans to visit the Kashmir valley in near future.
