UDHAMPUR, Feb 13: District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held today under the Chairmanship of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences (Independent Charge) MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr Jitendra Singh here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that the historic River Devika project, built at the cost of over Rs 190 crore, will be complete by June this year.
As North India’s first river rejuvenation project, on the lines of Namami Gaga, it will offer a unique destination both for pilgrim tourists as well as recreation tourists, in addition to being a state-of-the-art cremation centre, he said. This will bring Udhampur prominently on India’s map, he added.
The foundation stone of river Devika project was laid online by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to media after presiding over the DISHA meeting, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the country’s first Highway Village being constructed by NHAI is coming up on fast track on Udhampur National Highway and the Centrally funded Medical College will start its classes next year through NEET selection.
Udhampur-Kathua-Doda is possibly the only Lok Sabha constituency in the country which got three centrally funded Medical Colleges in Udhampur,Kathua and Doda respectively with the efforts of Dr Jitendra Singh as its MP.
To review the physical/Financial achievements of the programme/schemes being implemented in the District Udhampur covered under DISHA , Dr Jitendra Singh chaired a District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee Meeting (DISHA) at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.
DDC Chairperson, Udhampur Lal Chand, DDC Vice Chairperson, Juhi Manhas, Pathania, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib, SSP, Vinod Kumar, BDCs, President MC, Dr Jogeshwar Gupta, MC Ramnagar, MC Chenani, DDCs and other nominated members of DISHA Committee i. e. PRIs, Women, representatives of ST, SC,NGO besides District/Sectoral Officers of different departments attended the meeting on the occasion.
At outset, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib extended a warm welcome to Dr Jitendra Singh and gave a sector wise detailed powerpoint presentation of the physical/financial progress achieved during the year 2021-22 under various flagship programmes/schemes incorporated under DISHA being implemented in the District , besides mega projects.
Detailed deliberation were held on various aspects which include Financial achievements under MGNREGA 2020-21, Status of PMAY-G, SBM-G, PMGSY, NSAP, Jal Jeevan Mission, National Health Mission, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Sehat Yojana, PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana, PMKSY, PMMSY, ICDS, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, National Food Security Act, Integrated Power Development Scheme, Mid Day Meal, SMAGRA Shiksha, National Highways etc.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi briefed the chair about the physical and Financial status of various centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in different sectors of the District Reasi.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister expressed satisfaction over implementation of several government schemes in the district. He called upon the officers to make sincere and dedicated efforts towards taking the benefits of all government schemes to the targeted sections of the society.”Government is determined to provide enhanced basic facilities to people of the district at their doorsteps. The Union Minister emphasized the need of strong coordination between the PRIs and Administration for effective implementation of various welfare and development programme.
Singh asked the concerned to aware the people regarding Ayushman Bharat sehat Scheme by mobilizing ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and PRIs in their respective areas and ensure that all the beneficiaries will be covered under these schemes and receive golden card. The Union Minister took serious note and asked to DC Reasi for holding monthly meeting regarding ongoing developmental works with PRIs.
During the meeting, the DDC Chairperson, Saraf Singh Nag and other BDCs, DDCs raised various issues being faced by them which include Traffic congestion in the city, shifting of Bus Stand Reasi, shortage of Medical staff in DH Reasi, issue of Baridaar, paucity of drinking water supply in various Blocks, shortage of staff in educational institutions, establishment of College and Higher Secondary school in Block Arnas.
