JAMMU, July 2: Strongly condemning the intellectual sympathy towards terrorists and separatists, Union Minister of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today said anti Indian intellectual activism is as deplorable as anti India politics because this also amounts to encouraging and perpetrating terrorism.
Talking to reporters at the sidelines of BJP Core Group meeting here today, the Union Minister said that the advanced democracies of the world have drawn certain bottom lines which are observed by most liberated intellectuals. “Because nation can’t allow the intellectuals the luxury of indulging in free for all at the cost of nation’s sovereignty and integration,” he added.
He further said that this anti India intellectualism has now outlived it’s life and needs course correction.

He said moreover when an intellectual expresses his resentment or grief about the killing of a terrorist but is not able to take the same position when there is a killing of civilian or similar position, this also amounts to intellectual dishonesty and lack of conviction.
In response to a question that CID has made list of sec-essionist writers, Dr Jitendra Singh said that it will not be proper for him to respond and Ministry of Home Affairs will take cognizance of the same.
He said these intellectuals have already exposed themselves before the people of India and last time the award return was based on subjective considerations. One of the senior authors who was the first to have returned the award was of KP origin belonging to Nehru family who never felt aggrieved or pained in 25 years when the members of her community were thrown out of Valley and forced to take refuge outside Kashmir.
Dr Jitendra Singh said but just for some media attraction, she raised the question of intolerance against Modi Government.
While taking serious exception to the selective condemnation of violence by certain politicians, Union Minister said that “all of us in public life have to learn that we must not take one position in one situation and other turn in a another similar situation.”
He said “I think now we are in a truly connected world and  are living in the era of real time reporting. Regardless of political party and political affiliations we have to learn to maintain constant position depending upon certain logic and rationale and not changing our attitude by political expediency”, he added.
“We can’t have one position in one situation and another position in similar situation according to our convenience”, Dr Jitendra Singh said while responding to a question of a reporter who sought his comment that last time former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah wrote a letter about the action of Army Major Gogoi and this time he did not utter a word about the hostage drama enacted by Bashir Lashkar in Dialgam area of Anantnag district who made women and children as hostage.
The Union Minister said that similarly “we can’t have one position in one situation and another turn in a similar another situation by changing the statements from Srinagar to  Jammu and later taking a U turn in Delhi.”
Maintaining that opposition parties stand exposed by opposing Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Union Minister said now all parties have realized that there is no option without going for GST. “There were some hiccups and obstacles raised by certain political parties and now they too have realized that there is no alternative except implementation of the Central law”, he added.
He said “let us be assured that the GST will be implemented in the State and there will be one Tax for entire nation and those opposing it have also now realized that there is no alternative else than implementation of the new Tax law to get rid of multiple taxes and complicated laws.”
