BILLAWAR, June 7: As a major relief for the people of Billawar, Union Minister of State in PMO with Independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today announced the setting up of a Skill Development Centre and a Kendriya Vidyalaya in Billawar. Besides he also announced an additional fresh allocation of Rs 30 lakh from his MPLAD fund for a “Sarai” in Billawar town, laproscopic equipment for Billawar hospital, a sports ground for Bhaddu and a community hall each for Phinter and Mandli.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, he had always raised the issue of having a rail link with Billawar and therefore, after he got elected as MP, he took it up with the Union Railways Minister Gajapati Raju. He has been conveyed that they would soon carry out a survey for the purpose. He said, the Pathankot-Jammu rail line is not very far from here and therefore, by bringing this area on the railway map, the problem arising out of poor road connectivity will also get addressed to a great extent.
Referring to Billawar as an intellectually fertile land which has produced several sons of the soil who brought pride to Jammu & Kashmir as outstanding administrators, police officers and medical professionals, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the region deserves reinforcement of educational facilities for which he is pursuing with the University authorities in Jammu the opening of a University Campus on the pattern of the one that exists in Kathua.
Dr. Jitendra Singh lauded the people of Billawar for their nationalistic conviction and recalled that during the recent Assembly elections, he had spent exclusive two days for campaigning in the Billawar constituency and appreciated the enthusiasm with which the people of the area ensured the victory of BJP and its MLA candidate from here.
In addition to large amount of MPLAD fund allocations for bigger works, Dr Jitendra Singh referred to a number of small allocations made by him from his MPLAD fund during the last one year for the area. These included, for example, lane drain at village Magbloor West, Ward No.2 from Main Road to Laxmi Damodar Mandir, Billawar; Pond Sar Talab at village Qasba Panchayat Sallan, Billawar; Lane Drain at village Magbloor, Mohalla Swam, Bagrian and Mann, Billawar; Bathroom near tube-well, Village Sallan, Billawar; Lane Drain at Village Qasba, Mohalla S.C. and Biaso to Shakuntala, Billawar; etc. The total MP LAD allocation so far accorded to Kathua district stands at around Rs. 1.5 crore out of the first installment of Rs. 2.5 crore which is in addition to the amount spent on bigger projects from other sources.
During his visit, Dr. Jitendra Singh also held a meeting with the local administration. Several prominent BJP leaders from the region were also present on the occasion, who included Inderjit, Ved Mankotia,Prem Nath Dogra, Jugal Kishore and Amrik Singh.
