JAMMU, July 1: Son of the soil and Head of Hospital Administration-cum-Medical Superintendent at AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta, was honoured with the “Doctor of the Year” Award on the occasion of Doctor’s Day 2013.
This laurel was bestowed upon him by the Heart Care Foundation of India in association with the Indian Medical Association (Delhi Chapter).
The Award is a recognition of the path breaking initiatives. Dr Gupta has pioneered to revolutionize the scenario of Healthcare in India. He has been instrumental as the Chairman of the National Ambulance Code Committee in bringing in for the first time any kind of Ambulance Standards in the Country.
Recently, he was deputed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, to lead a delegation of senior officials to Germany in this regard and is currently consulting the Government of Maharashtra to develop a world class Emergency Medical Service System there.
Dr Gupta has to his credit over seven books and numerous high impact research publications in the field of Hospital and Healthcare Administration. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Center for Health Systems Innovation, Oklahoma State University, USA and is recognized both nationally and internationally as a walking encyclopedia of Hospital Administration.
He has also been bestowed with numerous Awards and Honours earlier, namely Partner of the Year 2012 Award by Institute of Rescue Engineering and Civil Protection, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, Germany, “Pratibhashi Samman–2002”, “Chikitsa Ratan – 2010”, “Shram Sree-2010”, etc.
