JAMMU, Sep 27: Dr Akshay Gupta, Professor & Head, Department of Orthodontics, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College (IGGDC) was among few invited faculty to attend a high-end clinical workshop on Digital Orthodontics, from basics to beyond.
This comprehensive workshop was organized by Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Deformities, Centre for Dental Education and Research, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi.
Inaugurated on September 22 by then Director AIIMS Professor (Dr Randeep Guleria as chief guest, the workshop was sponsored by Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. With a limited number of invited participants from different institutions, the workshop was also attended by faculty from MAMC, PGI, BHU, KGMC and some other premier institutes of country.
Role of Artificial Intelligence, digital dentistry in Orthodontics, orthognathic surgery planning, digital printed surgical stents, digital printed prosthesis, digital scanning and 3D printing and its applications, Live demonstration of 3D printing equipment, intraoral scanners, in-house manufacturing of Aligners and 3d models for patient care and academic purpose, present and future of remote and digital dentistry were brainstormed and discussed in workshop.
Guiding faculty from New Zealand, Nepal, Italy, Chennai and Mumbai participated in the workshop and provided their inputs by online and offline modes. Live interactions in this limited closed group workshop made it a vision for futuristic step for stepping first foot forward towards digital dentistry by all participants.
The workshop concluded today and valedictory function was hosted by Chief CDER Professor Dr Ritu Duggal (organizing chairman) and Dr Prabhat Chaudhary (organizing secretary) wherein certificate of participation was issued to all invited faculty.
