KISHTWAR, Sept 27: Acting swiftly, Kishtwar police arrested a burqa clad woman and recovered the kidnapped 6-months-old baby from her possession within eight hours.
As per police sources, a six-month-old baby of Farmeen Ahmed, son of Bashir Ganai of Chillara District Doda, at present Link Road District Kishtwar, was allegedly kidnapped from the District Hospital Kishtwar. The mother of the child has gone to District Hospital for his treatment, when the incident took place.
The CCTV cameras footages showed a burqa clad woman carrying away the baby from the hospital at around 12:00 Noon, sources said, adding that a search was launched to nab her and rescue the child.
Police had also announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for any information about the child.
Meanwhile, teams from Police Station Kishtwar under the direct supervision of SSP KIshtwar Shafqat Hussain Batt were constituted which put in hectic efforts and finally recovered the child from a house near Veterinary Hospital Kishtwar within 8 hours.
The accused lady identified as Shabnam Begum, wife of Zahoor Din of Chilli Bhalla Tehsil Pingal District Doda was also arrested.
After medical examination, the child was handed over to his parents.
A case under relevant sections stands registered at Police Station Kishtwar and further investigation is going on.
People of the Kishtwar hailed the efforts of SSP Kishtwar Shafqat Hussain Batt and his team members for displaying high standards of professionalism to recover the child and arrest the abductor. They also raised pro-police slogans for rescuing the baby within hours.
