Srinagar, July 11: Government today appointed Dr A G Ahangar as Director of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura.
Dr Ahangar was working as the head of the Department of Cardio Vascular Thoracic Surgery at SKIMS up to October 2012 after which he was appointed as the Director, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong. He was appointed as Director SKIMS vide Order No. 403-HME/2016 dated 11-07-2016.
The post had fallen vacant after Dr Showkat Zargar attained superannuation on June 3. Since last month, Commissioner Secretary Health Dr Mandeep Bhandari, was heading the SKIMS on temporary arrangement.
The SKIMS Director said that his priorities would be to make SKIMS hub of research.
According to the Government order number 397-HME/2016 dated 08-07-2016, Dr Riyaz Ahmad Untoo was appointed as the Principal Medical College SKIMS Bemina, which was the long pending demand of the faculty.
For the first time in last 16 years, the faculty member from JVC was appointed as Principal Medical College Bemina.
