JAMMU, Oct 25: Displaced person of 1947 from PoJK organised a special memorial function at Kotli Shah Dholla  in RS Pura and paid homage to martyrs of the Tribal raid of 1947.
This function was in sequence with similar functions already held at several places in RS Pura and all over Jammu province and several sub divisions where a large number of DP families have been living since 1950, after being moved from DP camps, Nagrota, Yol Camp, Kangra and other places.
Speakers referred to the pain of the  genocides meted out to them in Tribal raid in 1947 fully aided and abetted by the Pakistan Army. In the said raid, thousands of innocents were killed in cold blood, many burnt alive. This was the worst type of genocide of more than 45000 civil population of Hindus and Sikh minorities then living in now, PoJK.
Various speakers gave details of incidents faced by their elders to save them as a result of which they are alive today. Many speakers were of the view that the younger generation should be made aware of sacrifices, as a result of which J&K state is safe on which Pakistan had evil eyes and we all are living in peace today. It’s also an opportunity to take pledge to fight with full strength for our rights which have been denied by several Govts despite recommendations made by the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs (GOI).
Is it not injustice that DPs are still living in camps which they were allotted for temporary refugee. “When our woes will end is not known. We have been denied our rights of proper education, social, political upliftment. This will be possible only if we stand as a united force and show the Government of the day our strength to ensure the end of our woes,” one of the speakers said.
Prominent among those who spoke were- JS Sudan (Convener MJR-47 ), Charanjit  Singh Khalsa (Former MLC BJP), OP Khajuria (Distt president,  MJR-47) , Capt. KL Sudan, Pt Amar Nath Sharma, Dr Padamdev Raina, Madan Lal, Bodh Raj and Raj Kumar, Over 200 DPs participated in the function.
