SUNDERBANI, Apr 30:  SOS  International, an organization of  PoK Displaced Persons (DPs)  today castigated main political parties for keeping blind eye and callous attitude towards the DPs.
While addressing a rally of displaced persons from PoK at Sunderbani,  today Rajiv Chuni chairman of the SOS International, said that PoK DPs are fed up of the inhumane approach of  the key political parties of  the State and the Centre. Most of them are facing hardships  due to indifferent attitude of these political parties and leaders.  They should not keep any expectation that PoK DPs will cast their vote in their favor.
Chuni further said that the small ex-gratia amount has not come over night; it was outcome of continuous struggle of displaced persons. “Political parties failed to bring much awaited respite as they have tried to grind their own axe by utilizing us for their political gains. PoK DPs are remembered during election times, fake and tall claims of their rehabilitation are announced. They are shown castles in the sky  but once elections are over, all political parties disappear.  It is occurring because PoK DPs don’t have a political representative, had there been representatives from PoK DPs community, then the situation  would have become different, he asserted.
The DPs’ leader stated that other components of package passed by State Cabinet including Rs 25 lakh per family, reservation to the wards of PoK refugees in professional and technical colleges across the country, employment package for the unemployed youths in Government jobs and many more have been excluded which has irking the community. “Distribution of ex-gratia relief amount among PoK DPs has become chaotic due to disorganized planning and execution. At every point PoK DPs are being harassed, none other than their own Government.
He further said that it has been more than a year since Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has taken the reins of State in her hands. “Since she has taken the oath of office, our organization sought time to meet her and apprised her with our issues but till today we have not been given time. CM’s advisors have not let us to meet her. Due to advisors, Kashmir is burning and they also don’t want that PoK DPs could be heard at any forum. He demanded political reservation for the DPs.
