JAMMU, July 28: A meeting of Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) was held here today at Gadigarh under the chairmanship of Ch. Gharu Ram, former Minister and Zonal DPAP president Central Zone Jammu.
Speaking in the meeting Gharu Ram said that in 2005 there were only 2700 Panchayts but the number increased to 4200 after delimitation under the then Chief Minister Gulam Nabi Azad and when he (Gharu Ram) was Rural Development Minister.
He claimed that Azad’s period from 2005 to 2008 was the best period in respect of infrastructure development in the State like roads, fly-overs, hospitals, super speciality hospitals, Medical Collages, degree colleges etc.
“MGNREGA Act was implemented in the year 2007 in which lakhs of people got employment in the State,” he maintained adding: “For development of Jammu city Rs. 3500 crore were sanctioned and spent by Gulam Nabi Azad led government and similar was done for Srinagar.”
Those who attended the meeting were Ashok Kumar Khajuria, Zonal vice president; Balbir Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Kamal Preet Singh and others.
