MUMBAI, May 28: Producer Rahul Agarwal of Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Policegiri’ says he won’t play the sympathy card and insists it would be unfair to call family for promotions.
In March this year, Supreme Court pronounced Dutt guilty under the Arms Act in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case and sentenced him to five years imprisonment. Considering he was in prison earlier for sometime, now Dutt has to serve three-and-half years in jail.
Dutt, 53, is currently in Yerwada jail.
“We are not looking to play sympathy card. We won’t do frivolous promotion. We will promote in a sober way. We are more affectionate towards Dutt family,” Rahul Agarwal told reporters here.
“I think it would be unfair for me to call the family for promotions. Considering what they are going through it is not right. I know they will support, I would be obliged but it is wrong,” he said.
When asked if Dutt provided any suggestions for promotions, Rahul said he did not give any suggestions and was rather happy the way film has shaped up.
“He wants this film to make Rs 100 crore,” Rahul said.
The makers will rather have its leading lady Prachi Desai going all out to promote the film.
“I would be part of the promotions… Will do whatever I can. We will do innovative promotions. I have given bulk dates for it. The film is special for all of us,” Prachi said.
The Supreme Court verdict had come out while Dutt was shooting for ‘Policegiri’ and he was given some time to surrender.
“The last few days were exemplary for us. We all were sad but Dutt kept his face up and completed the shoot. It was his spirit that kept all of us going. We won’t let him down,” Prachi said.
‘Policegiri’ is an action film which will see Dutt playing a police officer. The makers insist that the film, slated for release on July 5, has “never seen before” action sequences. (PTI)
