Jammu, Aug 10: Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam and DGP Dilbag Singh have requested people not to believe in fabricated and motivated news. “No firing incident has taken place in Kashmir over 6 days”, they said.
They clarified that people should not believe any mischevious and motivated news regarding firing incidents in the Valley. The police have not fired a single bullet so far in 6 days, they said.
“The situation is calm, people are cooperative and restrictins are being relaxed to ease the situation. Srinagar and other towns were full of traffic and people busy with Eid shopping today,” they added.
PTI adds:- Meanwhile, The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday night said the situation in the State was peaceful and no untoward incident has been reported in last one week.
“There has been no untoward incident barring minor stone-pelting which was dealt with on the spot and was nipped in the bud,” Director General of Police Dilbag Singh said.
He was asked about the situation in the state after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi told media persons in New Delhi that situation in J-K has deteriorated. Minutes after Gandhi made the statement, the Srinagar Police also tweeted that the situation was peaceful.
“Situation in Valley has remained normal today. No untoward incident has been reported. At selective locations restriction was lifted temporarily,” it said.
