Domicile rules amended

JAMMU, Oct 20: The J&K Government today formally issued Circular directing authorities to issue domiciles to the persons, whose one of the parents i.e. either father or mother hold the Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC).
The Circular was issued by Commissioner/Secretary GAD Manoj Kumar Dwivedi.
Excelsior had exclusively reported that the UT Government is going to amend the rules to facilitate the persons to have domicile whose one of the parents possess the PRC.
“Even if one of the parents (either mother or father) is in possession of a PRC, the children would be entitled to grant of domicile certificates,’’ the GAD circular said.
It called upon the concerned authorities that while issuing the domicile certificates in favour of children of the PRC holders, the rules governing the subject be adhered to strictly.
Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh who had pursued the issue with the Government, tweeted: “Formal orders, in follow up to the discussion with the Jammu Kashmir Government cited in the earlier tweet, have been issued amending rules for grant of domicile certificate to children of PRC holders’’.
