REASI, Aug 28: A Dogri play ‘Panchayat’ was staged in folk theatre workshop being organized at Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College, here by Sangam Theatre Group, Reasi in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademy, New Delhi.
The play was prepared and staged by the participants under the guidance of Shadab Khan.
The workshop was inaugurated by SS Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Reasi with the lighting of traditional lamp while Prof Prem Singh, officiating Principal, GDC Reasi, was guest of honor.
The workshop is aimed at improving the skills of participants in acting, imagination, body rhythm, languages, emotion and role playing in folk theatre. The workshop gives the participants an opportunity to discover their inner self, explore their immense talent and also acquaint them with the folk art forms, besides training them in voice and speech modulations in Dogri language.
Through a series of warm up exercises, improvisation, theatre activities, performances based on folk art forms like Jatter, Chowki, Kaarkan, Harn, etc, the participants will be made aware of their rich cultural heritage and age old traditions.
Officiating Principal, GDC Reasi, Prof Prem Singh and Prof Rajesh along with other members interacted with the participants and urged upon them to explore their potential to the utmost capacity so that they may give optimum yield in the field of art and culture.
