Dogri play ‘Jaileiy De Qaidi’ staged

JAMMU, May 29: In the Spring Theatre Festival-2022, organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Drishay Nat Manch here today staged Dogri play ‘Jaileiy De Qaidi’ written by Rajneesh Kumar Gupta, directed by Pawan Verma and assisted by Renu Sharma.
The play revolves around two characters Gaara and Rupa and reflects the frustration of these two neglected characters due to atrocities by society.
Rupa is wife of one of the brothers of confectioners known as Nikke Shah whereas Gaara is his servant-a village boy who was forced to leave his village by his mother as his brothers harassed him.
Gaara faced rude behaviour of his master.
After many years of marriage, Rupa had no child and her husband married another woman.
Rupa had nobody except Gaara to share her grief.
One day Gaara came with news that he was going to his village with the consent of his master which makes Rupa sad but happy as Gaara is going to be freed.
She asks Gaara not to return and she herself decides to move to her village too to never return but she saw Gaara entering her room with his ailing mother saying his brothers have sent his mother with him as they were unable to bear her burden.
Artists who performed in the play were Renu Sharma, Pawan Verma, Dimple Sharma and Deepika Rajput. Lights were designed and operated by Shivam Singh, Tarun Charak operated the music, Make up was done by Renu Sharma, costumes by Jai Bharat and the set was designed by Sohi Sharma.
