REASI, Aug 26: 15-day Dogri folk theatre workshop being organized by Sangam Theatre Group, Reasi in collaboration with Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi is underway here at GZSM Degree College.
On the 6th day of the workshop, Bodh Raj Mania and Shadab Khan, were invited as experts to teach the participants about improvisations, pairs scene work and to improve listening skills, cooperation skills and practice character and conflict.
The participant groups wisely performed scene work through improvisations and acting exercise and prepared their body movements and voice exercises.
According to the Director of the workshop, M Akram Khan, the people of the area believed that the folk theatre like Heron, Jatter, Karkan singing and others oral history is disseminated from generation to generation in narrative styles. One particular community known as Jogies have tried to preserve this old age wisdom and heritage, he added.
The 40 participants selected in the workshop include Ajay Bhagat, Prieti Thakur, Suneha Rapyal, Shilpa Devi, Diksha Sharma, Ramta Devi, Bhavana Magotra, Diksha Kaluria, Sonam Rani, Anjali Anand, Vishali Devi, Prabha Kiran, Salma, Aditi Kalhuria, Shivani Attri, Anam Khan, Suman Lata, Anjana Devi, Roshan Singh, Sakshi Magotra, Bhanu Partap, Rohit Kumar, Manav Praghar, Deepti Kesar, Ruchika Sharma, Rajesh Singh, Pratibha Sharma, Sapna Sharma, Shivnandan Khajuria, Mohd Arif, Mohinder, Tarseem Kumar, Vishal Banathia, Rifat Yasmeen, Raja Aamir Khan and Mahil Bali.
Speaking on the occasion, Shadab said that participants are experiencing this detailed process for the first time in their life and he is expecting that some extraordinary talent may come out from this workshop. He said such workshops aware us about our aged culture, costumes, rituals, languages and properties.
The workshop is being coordinated by Sachdav Singh.
