Doda police arrests 4 bovine smugglers

DODA, Sept 8: Doda police has stepped up its drive against bovine smuggling, forest smugglers and illicit distillation of liquor.
In two different incidents District Police foiled the bid to smuggle bovines from the district to Kashmir valley and intercepted 26 and 12 bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station Doda and Dessa respectively. Four bovine smugglers were arrested and separate cases have been registered against the accused persons in both Police Stations.
The bovine smugglers arrested in these cases have been identified as Fayaz Ahmed Naik of Framu, Gadole Kukernag, Sajjad Ahmed Malik of Moulana, Nissar Ahmed of Jigote and Mohad Saleem of Hanch Doda. Furthermore, in such similar incident Dessa Police have also foiled bid to smuggle bovine animals towards Kashmir from the similar route prior to this incident, in which 9 bovines were intercepted and one bovine smuggler namely Rayees Ahmed R/O Kaparan Anantnag was arrested. Moreover, Doda Police have also arrested about 30-40 kg forest produce viz Nagbassi, reportedly costing thousands of rupees, which was reportedly collected from Bharat forest and was smuggled out to be sold illegally for illicit gains.
A case under forest act and theft has been registered against the accused persons. It is pertinent to mention here that Doda Police in such similar drives in the past against Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances had achieved considerable success and such tendencies were brought to the lowest ebb in the District. These drives were conducted by I/C Police Station Doda / Dessa respectively under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs. Doda and under overall supervision of SP Doda, Mohammad Arif Rishu.
