SAMBA, Sept 7: The district administration Samba has placed Dr. Anil posted in Emergency Ward of DH Samba under suspension with immediate effect for dereliction of duty and an inquiry has been set up which will be conducted by SDM Ghagwal, Ramkesh Sharmam in yesterday’s incident when a lady after denial of admission in the hospital was forced to deliver the child on road.
As the role of the hospital administration and doctors as well as other staff came to severe criticism from the people of the area who took a serious exception to the behavior of hospital administration with the patients coming for getting treatment, the DC Samba in a prompt action placed the doctor on duty under suspension and ordered an inquiry into the matter.
It may be recalled that a pregnant woman belonging to Bihar along with her family reached Samba hospital with complaint of labour pain but the doctor on duty refused to admit her and advised her to go to Jammu for getting tested for COVID. As the woman was crying with the labour pain after coming out of the Hospital she delivered the girl child in front of a chemist shop on road with the help of local ladies and her relatives.
Expressing concern over the role of doctors of the hospital, Sarpanch Lablu Sambyal, in a press conference today questioned the functioning of the district hospital and said that earlier a serious cardiac patient who was referred to GMC Jammu had to wait for over one hour for the ambulance and when his relatives protested over the delay, the doctors and other staff of Health Department held demonstration against the Sarpanch next day.
He said that the yesterday’s incident has exposed the hospital staff for their negligence and carelessness towards patients.
He however praised the decision of DC Samba to place the doctor under suspension and ordering a probe into the matter.
He said being the representative elected by the people, they will not sit silent against such attitude of hospital staff. Councilor Rameshwar was also present in the press conference.
