SRINAGAR, May 7: A doctor at Super Specialty Hospital at Shireenbagh Srinagar was among 14 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 taking the number of positive cases in Kashmir to 725.
The nodal officer Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Mohammad Salim Khan told Excelsior that 719 tests were conducted today at the CD hospital virology laboratory and 9 tested positive. He said that one among them was a doctor at Super Specialty Hospital at Shireenbagh Srinagar, six are admitted to Bone and Joints Hospital in Srinagar, two were at SMHS hospital-one of whom died last evening. He added that 15 samples are under process and 450 fresh samples were received today.

Dr Farooq Jan, the Medical Superintendent SKIMS hospital Soura told Excelsior that six samples tested positive for the Coronavirus today with 4 from Shopian and one each from Pulwama and Anantnag.
With these fresh 14 cases, the number of COVID-19 positives in Kashmir is now 725 and Jammu and Kashmir tally has gone up to 793. There are 449 cases active in Jammu and Kashmir while 335 have recovered and 9 people have died including a 32-year-old man from Alamgari Bazar last evening.
A 35-year old doctor, Casualty Medical Officer at Super Specialty hospital, Shireenbagh Srinagar, who is resident of Srinagar, tested positive today.
Six samples which tested positive for COVID-19 at SKIMS lab include four from Shopian district and one each from Anantnag and Pulwama. The Shopian positive cases are 9-year-old girl, 34-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man from Manzimpora area besides a 20-year-old man from West Bengal. The two other cases include 70-year-old woman from Neibugh Pulwama and 55-year-old woman from Botengo in district Anantnag.
The other cases from Pulwama include 75-year-old man from Awantipora and 47-year-old from Pampore while Budgam case is a woman, a resident of Gundsoo Budgam and the Baramulla district’s cases include a man from Balhama.
Bandipora cases include 45-year-old woman from Hajan and 58-year-old man from Gamroo while Ganderbal’s case includes 60-year-old man from Safapora area.
So far, 37706 test were conducted in Jammu and Kashmir for COVID-19 of them, 36913 samples have tested negative and 793 as positive. With these fresh cases, Bandipora has now 134 positive cases with 70 active, 63 recovered and one death; Srinagar has 126 positive cases with 47 active, 76 recovered and 3 deaths; Anantnag district has 122 positive cases with 120 active, one recovered and one death; Baramulla has 105 positive cases with 60 active, 42 recovered, three deaths;
Shopian has 98 positive cases with 64 active and 34 recovered; Kupwara has 69 positive cases with 38 active and 31 recovered; Budgam has 31 positive cases with 19 active and 12 recovered; Ganderbal has 16 positive cases with two active and 14 recovered; Kulgam has 12 positive cases with 7 active and 5 recoveries and Pulwama reported 12 positive cases with 8 active and 4 recovered.
Till date 84900 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 16387 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 186 in Hospital Quarantine, 449 in hospital isolation and 8121 under home surveillance. Besides, 59748 persons have completed their surveillance period.
In the meantime, restriction continued in Srinagar for 50th day today.
They were imposed in Srinagar on March 19 a day after first positive case was reported from Kashmir.
