Srinagar, Aug 22: Medical staff including doctors and paramedics today staged a protest at District Hospital Pulwama against the attacks on ambulance drivers and harassment of health staff that are performing their duties in the ongoing unrest in extreme conditions.
The protestors expressed concern over the safety of medical professionals and supporting staff working in the Valley after an ambulance driver was shot at by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Safakadal area of Srinagar while he was ferrying patients from Ganderbal district.
The angry protesters said that scores of ambulances with broken window panes stand witness to the attacks by security forces and crowds.
The protesters also demanded the arrest of a CRPF Jawan who fired pellets at an ambulance driver, Mohammad Sofi. The CRPF has suspended a Sub-Inspector but the protestors demanded the accused person be arrested. The protest ended peacefully.
