Srinagar, Nov 16:  A senior doctor posted at Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital was booked today over prescribing and selling expired injections last evening while his private clinic has been sealed.
A patient, Irfan Shafiq Gagroo, had lodged a complaint with Police Station Karan Nagar that he had a miraculous escape after he spotted the expired injection before being administered to him.
It has been learned that the complainant has told police that he approached Dr Mohammad Hayat Bhat for consultation and he prescribed him an injection, Mac-D3, and advised him to have it from his clinic immediately. Dr Hayat is an endocrinologist, posted at SMHS hospital and is also running his private clinic ‘Srinagar Endocrine and Diabetes Centre’ at Shah Complex Karan Nagar.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, a police team carried out a raid and seized the expired stock of the medicine from the clinic. Police said after spotting them the doctor ran away from the clinic. However, two persons running the medical shop have been arrested.
“A case under FIR No. 68/2015 under Section 420, 274 RPC has been registered against the accused”, the police said and added that a team has been constituted to nab the absconding doctor.
