CHENNAI : DMK President M Karunanidhi today announced a donation of Rs 25 lakh on behalf of the party to the Prime Minister’s
National Relief Fund to help the victims of unprecedented floods in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement here, Mr Karunanidhi conveyed his condolences to
the families of those who died and sympathies to those displaced by the floods in the State.
He said the cheque for the amount will be handed over to the Prime Minister by DMK Rajya Sabha Members. Mr Karunanidhi said the donation comes in the wake of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi’s appeal for contributions to provide aid to the flood affected victims of Jammu and Kashmir.
MDMK General Secretary Vaiko today announced a contribution of Rs ten lakh to the Prime Minister National Relief Fund to provide aid to the vicitms of J&K Floods.
In a release here, he said the J& K was hit by unprecedented floods in which several lakh people were displaced. It also caused huge loss of life and property. The Prime Minister had appealed for donations to aid relief effort in the state.
In response to his appeal, the MDMK decided to contribute Rs 10 lakh to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund,he added. (AGENCIES)
