SAMBA, Feb 28: Under the directions of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority Samba today organized a special mega medical camp for senior citizens of District Samba at Ahata-e-Waqar (Day Care Center) Samba.
Organized in coordination with Department of Health and Medical Education Samba, the camp was inaugurated by Sonia Gupta, Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr District & Sessions Judge, Samba) in presence of Rakesh Dubey, Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba.
Vidhi Khajuria, Chief Medical Officer Samba; Deep Kumar, District Social Welfare Officer Samba; Durga Dass, retired Registrar Administration, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, A/P Member, District Consumer Commission Samba and Kathua, Block Medical Officer, Anju Bala and her team of Medical Officers were present on the occasion.
The team of the Medical Officers comprised of Sushil Sharma, Consultant Ortho Technician; Dr Rajesh Sharma, Medical Officer (Ayush); Dr Balika, Mid Level Health Provider; Dr Akanksha Mehra, Medical Officer; Dr Jahida Choudhary, Medical Officer (Eye Specialist); Sahil Gupta, Lab Technician.
This team conducted a total of 106 OPD (Ortho OPD-35, Ayush OPD- 15, Eye OPD- 28, General OPD- 28, AWA ID-10, Lab test-46) at Ahata-E-Waqar Samba. Besides this, DLSA Samba also organized a Legal Awareness program at the same venue on the “Rights of Senior Citizens”.
Speaking on the occasion, Sonia Gupta stressed upon as to how the senior citizens are a reservoir of experience and knowledge and yet in many cases they are marginalized and almost wished away by the younger generations of the society as a burden on the society. She also highlighted the myriad of challenges the elderly people are facing i.e, social, physical, mental and economic which are unique to them.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba and Block Medical Officer Samba also spoke on the occasion. Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Samba presented the welcome address. Proceedings of the program were conducted by Hitesh Sharma, Panel Advocate DLSA Samba who also presented vote of thanks.
At the end of the program, free medicines were also provided to the people as per the prescriptions.
This program was attended by Staff Members of Department of Health Samba, Staff Members of DLSA Samba, faculty members and Students of Dogra Law College Samba, Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Samba, and senior citizens.
