JAMMU, Aug 30: – President of Displaced Kashmiri Sikhs Conference (DKSC) Harmohinder Singh has expressed his serious concern over the mysterious death of a Sikh engineer in Baramulla and demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
Talking to reporters here, today he said Sikhs in Kashmir are being made target of killings since 1990 till date. While referring to kidnapping and brutally killing of a Sikh Engineer, Gurmeent Singh Sethi who was working as AEE in PWD in Baramulla, whose dead body was near barrage of Jhelum river at Ganthamulla in Baramulla district of Kashmir he termed it a coldblooded murder.
Suspecting foul play he said that AEE was called on mobile by some known persons for official work on August 25 in the evening from his residence at Kanth Bagh , being obedient officer he went in his car to oblige. But he was kidnapped enroute on gun point by unknown antisocial elements and his car was found with mobile inside near the bank of river Jhelum near Eco Park Baramulla.
Harmohinder Singh criticized the role of Government in tracing out the victim who remained in the captivity of criminals consecutively for four days. Had the UT Government and police taken the cognizance of kidnapping seriously and holistically the life of AEE could have been saved, he added.
He said the prolonged captivity agonized civil society, Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee and all Sikh organizations of Jammu and Kashmir, he said .
Harmohinder Singh categorically said that, internal and external dimensions are responsible for the killing of an honest engineer of PWD and a conspiracy of some corrupt people can’t be ruled out who wanted to eliminate him.
Singh demanded CBI enquiry into this cold blooded murder of an honest PWD engineer exemplary punishment for culprits so that the corrupt system in the UT can be weeded out.
