JAMMU, Nov 2: Diwali was celebrated with pomp and show by various educational institutions.
Festival of lights was celebrated by the inmates of Bal Ashram, Ambphalla with religious fervour, pomp and show. On the occasion, the inmates attired in new clothes burst crackers to celebrate the day. Some inmates threw light on the importance of the Diwali festival. The activist of Sangram Sena were also present, who installed different food stalls for the inmates.
Vinayak Institute of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences celebrated Diwali with enthusiasm and gaiety. The programme commenced with pooja of Goddess Laxmi. Amardeep Singh, Chairman, threw light on the importance of Diwali festival.
Diwali was celebrated at Sai Institute of IT and Management, Sunderbani. A rangoli competition was organized, in which students participated actively. Managing Director Sanjeev Verma highlighted importance of the Diwali festival.
Sacred Heart College of Education, Azad Colony Paloura celebrated Diwali. Chairman of the college Hari Singh Chib was the chief guest, while Principal Dr KK Tiwari, staff members and students were also present. Cultural items were presented by the students on the occasion, followed by speeches on the Diwali festival.
Diwali was celebrated with pomp and show at Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar. Students of junior wing recited poems. A rangoli and candle decoration competition was also organized in which Tagore House stood first, Gandhi House claimed second position, whereas Partap House and Subash House shared third position. On the occasion, Managing Director Gambhir Dev Singh Charak, Principal Davinder Kour and Vice Principal Nirmal Koul spoke on the importance of the day.
May Fair Higher Secondary School, Chand Nagar and May Fair School, Janipur celebrated Diwali festival. The children participated in various activities including Rangoli making, cultural items. Chairman of the school highlighted the importance of the Diwali festival and instructed the children to take precautions while bursting the crackers.
