KATHUA, Dec 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Executive Member Kathua , Basohli P C Sharma while expressing his utmost satisfaction over granting of six more Assembly seats to Jammu by Delimitation Commission under which six districts of Jammu including Kathua district will get one additional seat has demanded that the same be given to Basohli tehsil by dividing the Assembly segment into two constituencies.
He said one constituency should be for Kandi belt of Kathua upto village Thien and other from onwards Thien to Sheetal Nagri.
He said present Basohli constituency has over three lakh population and over one lakh voters. The constituency has a vast area which is mostly hilly.
He said before 1980 Kandi belt i. e from Basantpur , Hatli, Dani Bakhta , Torsy Kalyari was in Kathua constituency which created lot of problems for the people of Basohli tehsil as well as Kandi belt including political leaders.
He said people of Basohli tehsil are demanding since long separation of Kandi belt which has been added in Basohli constituency but the previous governments did not pay any heed to it.
He said the people of Basohli are hopeful that they will get justice through the hands of present Government.
