Div Com reviews traffic managementExcelsior Correspondent Srinagar, May 11: In order to ease the increasing traffic pressure and to provide the better transport facilities to the commuters in Srinagar City, a high level meeting of concerned authorities was held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon here today. The meeting discussed threadbare various issues relating to implementation of traffic laws so that people do not face any inconveniences. The District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Baseer Ahmad Khan, DIG Traffic, Kashmir, Syed Afedullah Mujtaba, DIG South, Kashmir, Shafqat Watali, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmad, Joint Commissioner SMC, Fayaz Ahmad Bala, Joint Director Floriculture Srinagar, RTO Kashmir, SSP Traffic Srinagar and representatives of Transport Association Srinagar were present on the occasion. Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned to strictly implement the traffic laws and ensure that all mini busses adopt special lane driving. The drivers were asked to lift passengers from the specific bus stops and act upon as per newly introduced Traffic Light System. The representatives of Transport Associations were informed that the licenses of all those erring drives will be seized who violate traffic laws. The meeting was also informed that Srinagar Municipal Corporation has started the installation of 31 traffic lights in Srinagar city which would be completed by June 2012.
