JAMMU, Dec 23: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma today chaired a meeting with DCs of border districts to review the progress on construction of bunkers along International Border and other related issues in Jammu Division.
The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Div Com about the progress of works on under construction individual and community bunkers in their respective districts.
It was informed that a total of 5538 bunkers have been completed so far in the division including 5035 individual bunkers and 503 community bunkers.
It was informed that 1234 bunkers including community and individual bunkers have been completed in district Samba, 918 in district Jammu, 1193 in district Kathua, 1744 in district Rajouri, 449 in district Poonch have been completed. They further informed that remaining bunkers are also under different stages of construction. The concerned officers informed about the number of bunkers at foundation level, superstructure level, and slab level.
The Div Com directed the DCs for monitoring the construction of bunkers and also directed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work for timely completion of construction of individual and community bunkers at the earliest.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Samba Rohit Khajuria, Deputy Director Planning Chaman Lal, Chief Planning Officer Jammu, Joginder Katoch, besides executive engineers of executing agencies while Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch along with concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner held a meeting to review the arrangements for ensuing Republic Day, 2020 celebrations.
Sanjeev Verma took a comprehensive review of arrangements being made by divisional administration and stressed on better synergy between the concerned departments for the smooth conduct of the National event.
The meeting was informed that the main function will be organized at Maulana Azad (M.A) Stadium where the flag hoisting ceremony would held followed by march past and other programmes.
Divisional Commissioner directed the Police and Traffic authorities to make elaborate security and traffic arrangements so that general public reaches to the venue hassle free. He asked the SSP Security to look after the security/ anti sabotage arrangements in and around the venue of the function.
Youth Services and Sports Department was directed to ensure proper transportation and logistics facilities for the participating contingents including school children. Similarly PHE and PDD Departments were asked to ensure availability of safe drinking water and uninterrupted power supply. Health and Fire Services was directed to make available sufficient number of Ambulances and Fire Tenders at the venue.
Other important issues related to weapon/equipments on display, Dare Devils, Rehearsal, Refreshment, Printing of invitation cards and Brouchers, Barricading, Diggings, Lighting arrangements at all sides of venue, public address system, setting up of control room in MA Stadium, illumination of Government buildings, Beating Retreat, etc were also discussed in detail.
